Egremont started well and were fourteen points up inside ten minutes courtesy of tries by Paul Drysdale and Mike Burrow, both converted by Liam Nicholls, before Aspatria woke up and a series of pick and drives earned them a penalty which ?????? converted.
Five minutes later, Richard Postlethwaite counter-attacked when he fielded a clearing kick by Aspatria and he found Nicholls in support who in turn fed Callum Huck who scored an unconverted in the corner to increase the Egremont lead.
Towards the end of the half Aspatria deservedly scored a try after sustained pressure from numerous pick and drives from close to the Egremont try-line.
Within five minutes of the second half Aspatria further reduced the deficit when they capitalised on Egremont mistakes and when the right winger was stopped just short of the try-line after a fine run a further series of pick and drives resulted in the second try being scored in the corner, too far out to be converted.
Egremont woke up to the danger and a storming run by Martin Grealish set up a ruck in the Aspatria twenty two and when the ball was quickly spun wide Nicholls broke through in the centre for a try which he duly converted.
Back came Aspatria with a quickly taken tap penalty which led to them scoring their third try in a carbon copy of their first two tries with more pick and drives from close to the try line.
The spirited Aspatria performance was finally quelled when Egremont added two more tries through forwards Neil Richardson and Grealish one of which Nicholls converted to make the final score
Aspatria Eagles 18 Egremont 38.
