What have we done so far...
Firstly a huge thanks must go out to all the volunteers who have put a huge amount of effort into the clean up work. All help received is greatly appreciated, well done and thank you. The club house, MUGA, rugby pitch and car park have been cleared of any debris from the river.The MUGA has been extensively swept and raked to remove silt and debris from the surface of the pitch.The carpets and floor coverings in the club house have been removed and the flooring sprayed with an anti fungal spray.The loss adjuster has been appointed by the insurance companyIan Marr and John Booth met with the loss adjuster on Thursday 26th November 2009The loss adjuster has appointed the clean up and drying company 'Response' to clean further, spray and dry the buildingThe pitch has been cleared of stones and gravel dragged onto it from the riverbed, although it will be a while until it is fully clear. Environmental health advises that we DO NOT use the rugby pitch for any activities for at least 2 weeks (until Saturday 5th December) in order to avoid contamination from the river water.Egremont's 1st XV were able to fulfil their fixture with Aspatria Eagles on Saturday 28th November, playing at the Copeland Athletics Stadium.The club has been cleared of all loose fixtures and fittings and put in the skips, which have now been removed.The clean up company 'Response' have put dehumidifyers and heaters in all rooms in the club house to try and dry the building, this could take another 2 weeks (24th December).A building company 'Edgars' have put a tarpaulin over the flat roof, to prevent any more damage from rain.Quotes for building work, kitchen, carpets and decorating are being attained to present to the insurance company.Several specialist astro turf companies 'Technical Surfaces', 'Play-Rite' and 'Sports Maintenance' have now been to the club to assess the damage on the MUGA, we are waiting on their quotes. We have now purchased a cleaning solution to be sprayed onto the surface of the MUGA to eliminate bacteria left behind from the flood water and we will do some remedial work to even out the playing surface.We are in the process of applying for the 'Cumbria Flood Recovery Fund' of which we can potentially receive £5000.Egremont 1st XV will fulfil their fixture against Creighton @ home on Saturday 12th December, going to the Kings Arms afterwards for Pies and Peas.
